The Keeper’s Fare

I assume it’s the ending shot, though I’m not really sure. There weren’t any credits playing like you’d expect. It’s just one long take of the Keeper’s back as he wanders away over the grassy landscape, the white beach and black sea just visible on the left. The image haunts me even now, his lantern held high over his head as night falls.

They never did find Gin.

The fire was put out quickly, and the theatre’s still standing there on main street, still closed.  Gin’s parents thanked me for being his only friend. I have to say, that hurts.
