…Thereby correlating our data with certain necessary preferences dictated to us by that highest of all authorities, the will of the people, I think we will be able to correctly interpret what a few closed minded and unimaginative thinkers have declared to be a smoking gun. Such irresponsible pronouncements, I might add, set a dangerous precedent that could undermine the very fabric of our society. If the people are misled by unfiltered facts into erroneous conclusions, their will might veer in some wild and discoordinated direction, or, I fear, fracture into a riot of competing wills, into that greatest of evil, war. No, if we are to preserve the will of the people, our sacred obligation, we must not trouble it with deliberation or debate. Cold hard facts, the right kind of facts, like well cut stones, will pave the way to smooth and untroubled wills; we shall set a broad and easy path for them. So, we must find the truth that these data obfuscate.
