Stars danced in his vision as the thick gloves throttled his throat. Fire crawled down the avenger’s arms, licking greedy tongues against his defenseless face.
He could not scream. He could not draw breath to scream. He could only gaze up into the black, reflective surface of the helmet and watch through fading eyes his own gaping face. His ears rang as everything began to fade away.
The ship rocked, and the hull was rent in two. The fires died the instant the pair were flung apart into the vacuum of space. All he saw, as he died, were stars.
