It’s Over the Silhouette, Stars

“It’s over!” he shouted. “You’ve won.”

The silhouette in the doorway said nothing.

“Look around you! Everything’s on fire. We’re careening toward Earth. You’ve killed us all.”

A blinking readout panel burst into flames, punctuating his point. The ship rocked, throwing the man across the floor. The silhouette began his slow march into the room.

Crawling to his knees, the man wiped the blood from his nose.

“Fine, then. Finish it, if that’s what you want. Kill me and die, or wait an hour and watch me burn. Watch the world burn. You’ve destroyed us. You’ve destroyed everything. It’s over.”
