Sinking fast, the dimming light races away as I am plunged deeper into the dark, cold sea. Like a dim music which had been playing behind a closed door suddenly growing clear as that door was thrown open, I suddenly felt them, the ghostly minds of the sea. The weeping minds. The devouring thoughts. And as we sank deeper, that dreaming thing which lumbered in lazy earthquakes. Like suddenly seeing that a mountain was really a sleeping giant, there was a silence in the deep.
Like ice, it took my breath away, or would have if I wasn’t already drowning.
