Murder, Airships, and Betrayal

I felt the chilling touch of the blade enter my heart and gasped. My blood spurted from the wound and poured over the hilt onto his hand. Death was like ice, like becoming ice. I was subsumed by a cold stiffness spreading out from this mortal wound, this invasion of heartless steel. As the final flutters of life played out, I stared at my betrayer, spluttering helplessly as I fell at his feet.

The young man walked off, turning his back on me, his silhouette fading from my dimming sight as he marched into the light of the observation deck.
