Poem: I Fear To Give You All

I fear to give you all, and from my own incisions hide.
So how can I obey your call? I said I would, I tried,
but I, so unaware, I do not know all of me yet.
I find that I’m more wolf than vir, less hero, more a threat.
My shadows larger grow the more I seek to see the light,
and heap on me unending woe. O what a dreadful sight!

I give it all to you
all these dark parts of me
which I cannot undo,
which no man yet can flee.
So free me from my sin,
redeem me from this hell,
and o’er me vict’ry win
that with you I may dwell.
