In the valley of the stones, you’ll find strange geological formations that, it must be admitted, have a tendency, if one is walking there at night, to appear alike to the human form. This mostly happens out of the corner of one’s eye, and if one is alone, it can be quite an unsettling experience. You are left feeling as thought you are being followed, as though you are not alone.
The legends surrounding this valley are fairly summary. These strange, anthropoid rocks are said to be fairies or men who are guarding the way to a certain “holy” place. It is a cave of moderate size with a spring in it. These waters are said to be advantageous for any number of ills or maladies, working as a cure or preventative.
Whether these formations are natural or manmade is somewhat debatable. On the one hand, there is no parallel yet known, no theory on how these might have formed on their own, and so it seems it cannot be the work of nature; and yet, to see anyone of these stones, they appear natural. There appears no sign of handiwork upon them. Yet, I am no sculptor nor anthropologist; just a traveler. I’m sure there’s a reasonable explanation of how these rocks came to have such an unsettlingly human feel to them when any one of them just looks like a rock.
