Hot Nosed

We begin to see beyond our noses only when the have first seen it, our nose, that is. Once we see how we see, see our seeing, as it were, we can see beyond. I understand your anger, but I did not mislead you.

You saw what you were prepared to see, and it wasn’t I who prepared you. If we could go back, did I not try to dissuade you? “Have you thought this through?” “Is that what she really said?” “Maybe take a day to calm down.”

If I had simply said to you, “You’re wrong,” you would have rightly said, “Well, you weren’t there.” I wasn’t; the only eyes I had to see by were yours, and all that I could really tell was that they were not clear. Alright, now you’ve put your foot in it. You’re embarrassed. You have before you the humiliating task of saying, “I’m sorry.”

There is this grace attached to it, though. You may find that, after you have seen your nose, you will be a bit quicker to see it again next time, and that, after you’ve said “Sorry,” you may be forgiven.
