Well, I missed the gym yesterday. I’ve been trying to go Monday, Wednesday, Friday, but I got sick. I think it’s an allergic reaction. Still holding me down today, too. I’m better, and my throat’s no longer super swollen, but I’m tired and groggy. Can’t seem to hold my thoughts together. Everything’s swimming around in my head.
Anyway, Hopefully, come Monday, I’ll be right as rain. I’m still beginning, but I’ll share some stories. On Wednesday, I simply tried different pieces of equipment; just wanted to see what they did. They had a calf-raises machine where you lie back on a slab like Frankenstein’s monster and then lift yourself up by your toes; I was able to put all the weight on it. They also had a glut machine I was able to max out too. No surprise there, to be fair, as all the years of doing Taekwondo back-kicks have conditioned that movement fairly well. Also-also, they had something that lets you do a sort of revers sit up that I could lift all the machine’s weight on. That felt good.
I still couldn’t do a single chin up. Not surprising, but I decided to use the machine they have that assists you in doing a chin up. I had to use all of the 160 lbs. counterbalance just to barely get my head above the bar. I did a very slow set of ten on that and felt like I was dying. So, hopefully, that will keep my ego from growing too much.
Oh well. Feeling sick sucks. Hopefully it is just an allergic reaction and it passes through my system quickly. I really hope it’s not another infection.
