The Hero Returns Home

When I fought with dragons and ogres and all manner of nameless, boneless beasts that squirm in the muck of Oceanus, I had some thought I might win your love, but I cannot even garner your attention. It is a ludicrous place, this civilization, as you call it. It is only in the wild places that man can be sane. Only in bloody combat and cold nights and terrible dangers can he live. What is done to men when they congeal like a rotten sore? These cities make you forget reality. These walls make you weak. You’re all still infants.
