Flight in the Night

I saw the darkness in your eye. However you smiled, whatever you said, there was the darkness. A consuming darkness. I even believed you, what you were saying—you believed you, I’m sure. You have no other religion but to worship your own words, to worship yourself. I believed you, but I saw, looking in your eyes, that all that you really believed in was power and will. If you willed to make promises today, you might will to break them tomorrow. And another thing: I saw your eyes, but I felt your gravity. You were pulling me into your orbit.

That’s why I have to run.

You may catch me, may turn me, may make my eyes as dark as yours—but if my will breaks, it will not break quietly. I will run. Your darkness will have to feed upon another victim tonight.
