Short: War in the Heavens

A silent flash of blinding light streaked across the sky, and then was gone. The world seemed dimmer a moment afterward, almost grey, but such trivialities were far from my mind. It was the beginning of war. I knew the night sky would never be the same above the earth; it was irrevocably stained now with blood. That’s how I remember it. I was too young to understand all the complexities and politics; all I understood was that things had changed.
