Drabble: The Silent Sea

The Silent Sea, so still, lies restless in my heart; that waveless depth, that darkened mirror, still stirs within my thoughts.

The silent denizens about that quiet place have too long gazed into unfathomed mysteries, and they speak naught of what they’ve gleaned nor what is sleeping down below.

And I often have wondered now, now that I’ve returned, whether envoys have come to us, or if from out that murky bed a vanguard was issued.

What report might they return unto that unseen world? And what strange claws, or curling, boneless limbs, might one day grasp at us above?
