BY DR. AGONSON
I have nothing to say today.
My mouth, shut up in fear and shock,
my heart tired, my mind in fog,
all fall into a dread silence.
And lumbering as like a bear,
my dumb body searches for food.
My hungry soul perishes here,
it suffocates in my despair.
So dream, my lone escape,
is far from me, replaced
with dim reality.
My eyes, bleary, they fail,
and I am set adrift:
my dreams and eyes are gone.
Undead, I am,
caught ‘tween these two:
I’m not awake;
I’m not asleep.
Bring me
out of . . .
. . . this.
