Saying Goodbye

BY DR. AGONSON

I’ve been waiting to say goodbye
for the moment that you wouldn’t die
once I left you alone and went off on my own
but the moment has gone all awry.

I won’t lie to you one more time,
It was fun, but a couplet must rhyme;
and you know that we don’t and you ask but I won’t
and this ending is always a crime.

So I’m leaving you now, my dear,
and hope no one is watching us here
as I bury you deep, and I hope it will keep
cause if not you’ll come back I fear.
