BY DR. AGONSON
I traveled through some strange and furtive lands,
and came to where a castle stands.
I entered in and walked about the place,
and happened on this odd disgrace:
A bunch of bones were set there on a chair.
This note described the strange affair:
‘Twas here upon his golden seat enthroned
the crazed king bowed his head and moaned.
The crown slid off and tumbled to the floor.
The circlet rolled right out the door.
The mad monarch made not a further move,
but none could dream some way to prove
his death or life barring the means of touch.
A simple slight could cost us much,
and none would dare his hand upon the king
fearing what royal wrath could bring.
And so unto this day he sits enthroned,
and by his cruelty was boned.
