BY DR. AGONSON
I heard a bell no one could hear,
I saw a light no one could see,
and only I could hold it dear,
for only I could let it be.
I bear a burden none can bear,
I lift a weight no one will dare.
I felt the stars and planets move,
I heard the music of the spheres—
this harmony my doubts remove,
this melody destroys my fears.
I lay awake within my dreams
watching the shadows and moonbeams.
My fingers comb the summer grass;
I stretch upon this little hill.
I know these blessed moments pass,
but in these moments take my fill.
Here ends, and here begins anew.
From this small rise I gain a view.
