Classic Blunders

“You have really thought about this,” is an argument I have not been able to defeat. Twice, now, it has been used, by women, to disprove my argument. You see, because I thought about my argument, or had been thinking about the subject before the argument, or was versed on the topic, my argument was too strong to be true.

I think that’s the meaning, as well as I can understand these women. “I cannot argue for my position because I have not actually thought about it,” she says, “and therefore, it is not fair of you, who have, to argue with me.”

Were it a game of chess or golf, I might understand, were it a competition of any sort, I might make a similar argument, but I, being only a man, thought we were seeking the truth.

Of the two women who made this argument, one did seek the truth with me anyway, which act of faith on her part makes me remember her always with a prayer.
