New Professor

“Of course,” went on the lecturer, “the point is the soul. One soul or another, it makes little difference, which was the great error of last year’s lecturer, Professor Faust, who, upon learning the regrettable news that he would not be available to teach 201, passed the pitchfork, if I may put is so, onto me. As I wish to continue teaching, I’ve also tried to take a lesson from that otherwise distinguished character, Fr. Ambrosio, who learned, from his venerable father, perhaps a little late, that as well as bargaining for deliverance from the Church, he should have also added a note on the continuance of his mortal life. I do not intend to make such mistakes or allow my pupils to go in blind, as it were. 100 level classes were the honeymoon period. Today we begin the real work. Speaking of “going in blind,” today’s lecture will be on the life of Dr. Frankenstein. I hope you completed your summer reading, because I will not be answering stupid questions.”
