Just Ridiculous

My sister is coming for a visit, and my niece is tagging along on the flimsiest of excuses, calling my sister her mother. It’s all a little too convenient: she already makes the wildly speculative claim that I’m her uncle, and now she wants me to believe that she’s also my sister’s daughter.

“Even if any of this could be proven, she was still my sister before she was your mother.”

I had hoped this would give me precedence, but, apparently, her motherhood transcends her sisterhood; it’s a “holy calling” to which unhinged dogmatists, like Saint Paul, ascribe soteriological benefits.
