Our Third Man

There's one walking among us now
who's silent and unseen;
one who took with us our vow.
Now, on him, we lean.

He's wandered far, but now it's near,
the time the ancients set.
We have brought him with us here.
Gone's time to regret.

It is his end, it is his death,
and he, our unsung friend.
This is why he first drew breath—
why he did us send.
