A Silent Prayer

There rises now a silent prayer among the weathered mass
among the men and wives and sons
among the first and last
among the daughters and the mothers blest,
among the single and widowed,
among all those longing for rest,
Oh Come, my God, and give us life
new life, and hope, our King.
I pray it too, my Judge and Advocate,
come slay the evil queen
and slay her dragon too.
