A Killer’s Dying

A killer’s dying, clutching lead filled guts,
but these tears I’m crying—this scene my heart cuts—

He was a man who had no home,
but he would fight for ours.
No more will he his desert roam.
I’ll bring him wild flowers.

A cactus bloom, its pricks I’ll brave,
for in his doom new hope he gave.
