The last of the sun’s light was gone now, and the brilliant colors were all subsumed into darkness. She sighed, her gaze traveling far away toward the black silhouettes of the hills which could barely be seen rising up against the clouded sky. She wanted, and wanted with a desire that burned in her like a fire, to pass beyond their shadows, to follow the sun into the great unknown, the unknown that she would never know. But the sun had set, set for her a long, long time ago, when she had stayed and chosen this, her eternal darkness.
