I hoped one day to be beyond
these little deaths of mine,
to soar among the twinkling stars,
never to fall, but shine.
And yet the stars are like a dream
and death's alike to sleep.
There's darkness, infinite, between;
in darkness I must weep.
My tears will catch the light, I hope,
will shine when all is done,
and if I leave a brilliant trail
I think I will have won.
