You’re Right, I’m Left

You’re right, I broke my heart again, and I fear I really did a number this time, ’cause I don’t want it to beat again.

No, no, don’t beat, don’t beat no more
I can’t stand, to love again
No, no don’t beat, please don’t beat again,
No, no I can’t, no not again

And the rhythms of the heartbeat Silently
And the flowers and the bees; the birds do sing
and the river’s running swift, it feels so cold
and it’s over all so quick, and you’re so old

No, no, I don’t, I can’t, don’t feel
No, no, I won’t, I know what’s real
You can’t deceive, I won’t let you in
You cannot take, my heart again

But I dreamed another dream, and you were there
and I hoped a painful hope, but who will care
for there’s nothing true in dreams and life’s not fair
and I’m hoping that this time I will not dare

and the end is coming swift and I must go
but I hope it’s not a mist this falling snow
for I hope that I am wrong—oh break this woe
but in the end I do not think anyone shall know.
