Re: Plague of the Zombies

I watched a movie yesterday, an old horror flick called Plague of the Zombies. It had some good acting, and some bad, but if you like this sort of nonsense, it’s probably worth an hour and a half. The draculean elements are hard to ignore; then again, if you’re as big a fan of Dracula as I am, that will probably be a bonus.

One thing that struck me, however, was the dialogue: now and again, these sorts of jarring non-sequiturs would come out of the actor’s mouths. I wonder if this was the fault of editing; it could be that the lines made sense in the original draft but preceding lines had been cut.

Anyway, it was a modest story with fun characters and striking imagery. The plot was straightforward and reminded me, somewhat, of a Sherlock Holmes story in atmosphere, though it’s hard to say that there’s much of a mystery as to the criminal and his crime. In that sense, it’s a bit like Columbo as you watch the investigator solve what you, as the audience, already know. It works, and it was fun.
