A Haunted Place

The mountain is a desolate place full of things that cannot die. Sun-bleached bones that still speak and long shadows that walk free in the night. There is water there, though—strange water—but it’s the only place we won’t be found. If we make it, you may wish, instead, that you had met your fate on the scaffolds.

There are three types of people on the mountain, three characters that are revealed. Some men die, some men escape, and some men, well, they find they belong there. I escaped once; I doubt I will again. I think you’ll stay.
