Shared Ends

They say the dead return tonight out of their crypts and graves, that those lost on the waves will float in from the sea. They say the dead return tonight, will cross the veil once more, and it has caused my soul a fright, to think of what’s in store. For I have killed so many men and thought the deed was done, but now I wonder where it tends, if here’s the end I’ve won:

That I must share an end with them
who once I hurried on,
and now they come here to condemn
and hurry me along.
