The vampire is a sniveling sort of coward. He may delight in terrifying an English clerk or helpless woman, but in the end, at the first sign of any real opposition, he turns and runs. Organization is his greatest enemy after knowledge. The mob, as loathe as I am to praise it, is what he fears.
So our task, it seems, is to band these frightened people against him. At the moment, they huddle alone, family by family, in houses or churches fearing the night.
Knowledge and education! This must be first. We need a demonstration. We have to show these people that vampires can be fought against.
I therefore suggest that we drop our guard and antagonize our enemy. He is too much a coward to attack us even though we are the only threat he faces in the region. We must force him to attack and be ready to be blindsided. He’ll only attack if he thinks we’re weak, and we can only defeat him if he attacks because we are too weak to take his fortress.
