Why do I love vampires? Is it just that I read Dracula when I was young and impressionable? Well, that love, however it began, has not ended there: a few months ago, I read Carmilla for the first time and fell in love all over again. The atmosphere Le Fanu created was everything I wanted. It was like reading Dracula for the first time.
I hope, one day, I’ll write a great vampire novel too. It will be Baroque and Romantic and an over the top romp, or perhaps a subtle and building horror, or maybe a comedy. Who knows?
