To our friends at Castle Stoker,
I have found it somewhat useful to let the zombies prowl about my lands. In their way, they’re harmless enough, and they provide an excellent buffer between me and every young adventurer seeking vengeance for the sake of a lost love or whatnot. Those who make it through the gauntlet of gnashing teeth and clasping, cold hands are often too spent to put up much of a fight afterwards.
But, it must be noted that they are somewhat distasteful as neighbors. These are not the sort one wishes to invite to dinner, or to engage socially in any way. One can’t even carry a conversation with them. All they do is moan and groan, and if they can speak, they only beg you to put them out of their misery.
So, really, it’s up to you. Pros and cons. You’re the one who has to live with them. At this point, it would be too much trouble for me to have them removed if I were so inclined, so don’t make the decision lightly.
As regards your other query, I can’t speak to the aesthetics of putting a moat in, but it seems to me a great bother for such little value. Any fool can get over a moat; its effect is against large assaults. It is supposed to slow down armies, and if you have armies at your door, you should probably just move at that point. I think a moat is impractical, but it may put a nice touch on things. Again, it’s up to you.
Last time we saw each other, you mentioned your disappointment at the lack of spirits in your new castle. If you’re still looking for ghosts, I have attached a few resumes of reputable specters which may be of interest to you.
Yours,
The Count
