Dreaming Alone

The night was cool and dark,
the stars were bright but far,
and none were in the park;
it felt a bit bizarre . . .
To stand alone where crowds once thronged
to be alone and sing a song
to walk alone where none belonged
to feel alone, for her to long . . .
And no new day renews my light.
I'm lost within the night.
Alone I wander under stars . . .
My wish, it wasn't ours.
