Believing in a Dream

“The Dream cannot be explained.”

“It cannot be explained,” he countered, “in the manner you wish, but it can be explained.”

“How?” he asked. “Do you expect me to believe—”

“Exactly,” he interrupted. “I expect you to believe.”

“Believe in what?” he sighed. “I don’t even know what I’m supposed to believe in.”

“I didn’t tell you to understand. That comes later. Just believe. You’ve seen it. You’re the dreamer. The dream came true. I can’t explain these things if you just want me to explain them away. Only after you accept the truth will you understand it.”

“This is nonsense. There’s no such thing as prophesy. It just has to be some sort of good guess based on what I already knew.”

“You couldn’t have guessed. You couldn’t have known.”

“It’s the only logical explanation.”

“You’ll never understand it if you can’t accept it for what it is, if you have to make it fit into your worldview instead of fitting your worldview to it.”
