“The vampires are getting hangry.”
“Hangry?”
“Yeah, it’s a portmanteau. It’s hungry plus angry. Hangry, get it?”
“Yeah, I get it,” he said, barely suppressing a groan. “I’m more concerned about the vampires. Why are they hangry?”
“Well, I think that’s implicit in the word. Hungry, therefore angry.”
“Then the solution seems as implicit,” he said. “We’ll feed them.”
“With what, err, who?”
He looked at me and said, “I don’t suppose you know any English majors babbling on about portmanteaus and generally making a nuisance out of themselves?”
I thought it over. “No, not really. Unless you mean me?”
