2021: The End

As the year ends and I glance over the triumphs and failures of this last cycle, I wonder how to correlate it. I see victories and defeats, but ask, overall, what is the overarching direction? How do I compare the fact that I’ve read more books this year than any previously with the fact that I’ve gained more weight than any previously? The fact that I’ve made some new friends with the fact that I’ve yet to make that special friendship? The fact that I think I’ve grown wiser with the fact I’ve been a fool? Am I in the black or the red this year? I cannot tell.

The thing for which I am most excited is that I’ve finished the draft of a book. Will I be able to publish soon? Will I find some readers? Who knows?

I hope you have a great New Year’s Eve. Fear Bacchus by welcoming him; be the more respectable for allowing yourself to be the fool.
