Poem: Stopping by Sirens on a Cloudy Night

I heard the siren’s song that night
when moon and stars were hid from sight
and all was shrouded in the dark
save for my feeble, little light.

And in the glow of that sad spark
there was no hope, no sign, no mark
to lead me back unto my home,
and I was lost within my ark.

Above the waters I did roam
when through the breeze, the splash and foam,
her song asudden filled my ear
and touched my heart ‘neath heaven’s dome.

Her words were gentle, soft, and clear,
but in her music I could hear
that in her voice was hid a sneer,
that in her voice was hid a sneer.
