Short: Lucifer

It’s getting darker in here. This is the sunset of reason; in the twilight is madness. Still, it is a refuge: The insanity is our escape from that devouring light, that unblinking noon, that burning eye which is the sun. The dawn: how sweet a memory; how painful the pleasure of its promise. The promises were dew; they came due. Analysis of analysis; all things were explained away until there was nothing but the explaining. So we analyzed the analysts, cutting them open. Still, undead, the analysis continued. Reason would eat all. Ouroboros, ouroboros, ouroboros—our only chance. We analyzed analysis itself, and sacrificed the sun to escape its heat.

This is the twilight of reason, as the snake swallows and swallows and swallows itself, shrinking away into darkness.

There are whispers in the darkness: They say Lucifer dims because the sun is rising.
