Short Poem: A Sabbath

The blackbird roosting in the hollow tree,
the gull there floating on the rocking sea,
that bat that’s hanging from a cavern stone,
the desert owl who burrows all alone,
also the breath that hides within my chest
from all their labors hope to find some rest.
