A Poem for Mother’s Day

When the dragons return to the earth,
and the maids of the sea come to land,
when the heart of a man is made clean,
and the eyes of the soul are refreshed,
when the life of a sailor's a poem,
and the chores of a mom an epic,
when we see through the lies what is true,
then we'll know that the myths have been real,
that the lives of the plain and mundane
are more wise than the frog or the hog.
When the dragons return to the earth,
and the daughters of Ocean give birth—
I pray I'll be ready to write;
I pray that I'll know when to fight.
And the dragons are coming with flame,
but the mermaids have learned how to tame
their lost husbands who wander the earth
with surrender that conquers by mirth.

Happy Mother’s Day
