I saw a ship across the sea
and watched its sails caught in the breeze;
I wondered why it looked so free
and why its sails my soul did please.
The sky was blue, and like a mirror
the ocean lay, all full of fears;
the sun reflected back so clear
from out that depth of ancient tears.
And passing through that solar glare
the ship continued its affairs,
and sailed away into thin air—
this sight my mem'ry ever bears.
