Drabble: Duel | Part 1

How the rains descended over us, crashing down like waves.

Still, our swords were drawn in that darkness. Our feet slipping in the mud, we lunged and retreated. I could barely hear the sound of steel hitting steel over the din of the storm. I think I couldn’t hear it; only felt it in my arm as our swords met. My ears were full of the rain, the pelting, ceaseless cascade. My eyes were on you, studying your every move, the strength of your legs, the bulk of your shoulders—like a lover I watched you. Then, it was over.
