The raven’s black quills, glistening like rainbows in the sun, fold upon its back as the cunning bird lands upon the roof of some cart. His shining eyes survey the world below him. A band of pigeons battle over some discarded bread. He had the strength and size, he thought, to scatter them a moment and steal what crumbs they fought over. Crumbs! Bah. He left the birds to their sordid affairs, and turned his attention to the humans. Most didn’t stay to eat. Instead, they waited in orderly lines to get their food. The raven never understood the humans.
