When formulating this list, there were many runners up which failed to be either internalized into my character or to be truly great. However, each of these I would heartily recommend to anyone.
Animorphs
I have written before regarding my love of these books, but they are pulp. There’s nothing especially high or low about them. The plots are simple, but fun. The characters are relatable if, as an adult, they now appear to be one note. As a child, I would read these stories with a pounding heart, barely able to turn the page in my excitement. They were some of the best children’s books I read, and even now, as a fully grown adult, when I see the rusted tail of a hawk, I always find myself whispering, “Is that you, Tobias?”
