Poem: Silence

We called, but you weren’t there. What do I say?
The kids starving, and me what could I pay?
Then ready War, ready always with flesh,
kept these alive, and now you do protest?
I’ll take the curse, but you’ll not sully those
who knew not what they ate, nor did suppose.
So run me through or run me in but know
if you unveil my crime then something I will show:
Your own darkness brought to the light by me.
Buy my silence; your silence is the fee.
