September 11th: What Do We Remember?

Every year, it seems, September 11th becomes less important. Once the whole day was given over to remembrance, then it became a short hour. Today I barely spent half of that, less than half an hour, the radio on in the car as I went to keep an appointment.

My thoughts return to that terrible morning I woke up and heard the news. I remember sitting before the television, unable to think. All that went through my mind was the certainty that nothing would be the same after this.

Yet ever turning, chaos and order give way to each other.
