The thoughts inside my head will not come out,
and struggling for life they force my shout.
For them I rasp, for them I groan; they make
me speak until I know my mind will break—
and then release: I’m dead; they’re gone. Lifeless
without their harsh meter, their rough caress,
alone, a husk—nothing. I long to live,
they to be free. We each in turn must give.
The thoughts inside my head will not come out,
and struggling for life I scream and shout.
