Short Poem: In the Darkness are Chains

In the darkness are chains,
and in the shadows bondage.

Sweetness and light are freedom;
bitterness and death enslave.

In this pit I cannot hope.

We clasp our chains tenderly;
we hold them like a lifeline.

In the darkness are chains,
but without them we fall.
