Short Poem: Sanguine Laugh

Please enjoy these little verses I pulled together.

You never said goodbye, my love,
but still I find you gone.
I’m left with nothing of my love;
no memories hang on,
save memories that have grown dark,
have festered in the dark.

And sanguine is my bitter laugh.
My stretched sardonic grin
surpassed the pain with startled laugh,
a strange and wicked din.
My heart had turned to vile thoughts,
my mind birthed evil thoughts.

To play the villain on this stage,
embody all my hate,
would be a mask, would be to stage,
and such is not my fate.
So I will be the hero though
the end will have no prize.
